After writing and acting in comedies at Sheffield University, he left school and moved to London to pursue his career of choice. Within three years, Eddie Izzard was acting at the London Club circuit and performing in shows in the West End. Performing in a dress and identifying himself as a transvestite, his one man-woman shows were the talk of the town. In the '90s Eddie toured the US to sell-out crowds. He landed various movie roles and earned Emmy nominations as well. Quoted as “The funniest man on the planet” (The Irish Times), it has also been said that Eddie provides “sheer comic joy” through “a distinctive comic personality that creates a conspiracy of pleasure that leaves his audience weak with laughter.” (The Daily Telegraph).
