"Originally known as Xero before being taking the stage under the name Linkin Park, this band was one of the first bands to enter in the nu metal realm. From Los Angeles, California, Linkin Park was formed in 1996 by Mike Shinoda (vocals), Brad Delson (guitar), Rob Bourdon (drums), Phoenix (bass) and DJ Joseph Hahn. Linkin Park brought on lead singer Chester Bennington after dropping bass guitarist Phoenix. The group swiftly swooped up a record deal with Warner Brothers Records after making a big impression on the Los Angeles club scene. Linkin Park fuses together metal, hip-hop, industrial and pop styles. In November 2000 the band released their album ""One Step Closer"" which entered the US charts in the Top 20. Linkin Park attracted fans of other big name bands such as Korn and Limp Bizkit, continuously climbing their way up pop's ladder to stardom. With the release of their following album, Hybrid Theory, they reached number 5 on the US charts, while their single ""In The End"" landed at number 2 on the singles chart. Linkin Park's following album Meteora sold over 1 million copies after its release in the US. "
