Bundy and Speck were quickly replaced at the end of 1989 by Gidget Gein and Madonna Wayne Gacy. Their controversial image landed them a contract with Trent Reznor and John A. Malm Jr.'s label, Nothing. After touring with bands like Suicidal Tendencies and Meat Beat Manifesto they received a Song Of The Year nomination for ""Dope Hat"" at the Slammy Awards in 1993.
In December 1993, Twiggy Ramirez replaced bass player Gein. Much of Marilyn Manson's 1994 debut album was recorded at the house of the infamous Tate murders by the Manson family. As well as producing the album, Trent Reznor also was a guest musician. By 1998, Marilyn Manson had become one of the biggest bands in the US. Their had a cult following who were despised by conservatives and Christian groups. Marilyn Manson busted into the UK Top 10 for the first time with their big success, Mechanical Animals. In April 1999, two alleged fans, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, murdered 15 of their classmates at Colombine High School in Denver, Colorado. Manson was forced to defend himself and his genre of music, cancelling a nationwide tour, after his music was found in the rooms of the murderers. More recently in the album Holly Wood, Manson was able to gain a complimental moral image to his perceived evil side. Marilyn Manson is an international superstar and among the biggest names in the music industry to this day."
