Muse was formed by school friends Matthew Bellamy (guitar/vocals), Chris Wolstenhome (bass) and Dominic Howard (drums), all from the Teignmouth, Devon. Their sound and style is clearly influenced by big names like Radiohead and Nirvana. After releasing some art rock-style songs independently in 1998, an appearance in New York caught the attention of Madonna's Maverick Records.
