"Award winner Norah Jones attended Booker T. Washington’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas and came second in the school’s Best Jazz Vocalist competition in 1997. She majored in piano at the University of North Texas but quit and moved to New York City and with songwriter Jesse Harris and bassist Lee Alexander, she formed a band. Singing, writing songs and playing piano as well as recording some demos soon landed her a deal with Blue Note Records. In 2002, she released her very succesful debut album “Come Away With Me”."
