"Thunder developed in the aftermath of Terraplane. The heart of Terraplane continued to be heart of Thunder: Danny Bowes, Luke Morley and Gary James. Thunder recruited Mark Luckhurst and Ben Matthews to complete the team. Thunder came together with producer Andy Taylor to record Back Street Symphony, a riveting album of atmospheric ballads and bluesy rock. Thunder received widespread critical acclaim for this album, which had Bowes' explosive vocals bringing distinction to their group. Thunder added emphasis to their distinction when performing live. Drummer Gary James' dressed in a tutu during shows and did impromptu Frank Sinatra impersonations. In 1990, Thunder was honoured with the opening act at the Donington Festival and were the highlight of the day. In 1991, Thunder concentrated on the American market, touring all over in an attempt to make the breakthrough which every band dreams of. They didn't enjoy such a breakthrough with the release of Laughing On Judgement Day. Luckhurst left Thunder in 1993 to be replaced by Mikael Hoglund. Thunder's third album, Behind Closed Doors, was the result of over 12 months recording in the set in the USA with the aid of Aerosmith/AC/DC producer Mike Fraser. Mike Hoglund also departed Thunder before the release of The Thrill Of It All. Many thought Thunder was done with at the turn of the new millineum. But, in 2003, the band was given a warm reception when they returned in with a new album, Shooting At The Sun. Thunder has the spirit of great hard rock bands with modern style."
