Kings of Leon was formed by the three brothers Caleb (lead singer, rhythm guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared (bass) Followill and cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar). The boys grew up traveling throughout the country with their father who was a United Pentecostal evangelist. Not surprisingly, the boys started playing music in church. But when their father left the church, the Kings of Leon started making music in a more independent manner. After completing high school, Kings of Leon moved to Nashville. Soon after, the group began writing songs and scored a record deal with RCA one year later. their songs teem with primal emotions and rangy rhythms, revealing that Kings of Leon are, in general, a hauntingly unusual, yet classic band. Kings of Leon is named after ""Leon"" which is the name of both the Followills' father and grandfather. Today, Kings of Leon is considered as a hauntingly unusual, yet classic band. In addition, thanks to their impressive live performances, Kings of Leon has developed a devoted audience!
